Web & Mobile Experience

Project

In this project, I was asked to design a web and mobile experience centered around a given situation for a particular user group, and incorporating an existing brand. My challenge was to design a back-to-school shopping experience for a male high school student, incorporating the American Eagle Outfitters brand.

Process

I began this project with an exploratory research phase. I researched the American Eagle Outfitter's brand, looking at aspects such as target market, marketing message, and advertising schemes. I also looked at existing advertising, such as paper brochures, website, and email/direct marketing campaigns. Based on this, I came up with branding and marketing elements that I would incorporate into my design.

Next, I looked at the user that I was designing for. I conducted research that allowed me to build up a persona for my target user, and identified his goals, perceptions, and desires. Based on this, I decided on the sort of information he would be looking for during a back-to-school shopping experience.

I then entered the design phase. I brainstormed some initial ideas for how my user might find a web and mobile component to be useful to his activities. I created a workflow diagram and built wireframes, then mocked up sample interfaces for both web and mobile devices based on my initial branding research.

Outcome

The deliverable was a full-color bound process book broken up into 3 phases. It includes extensive workflow documents, summaries of user study results, visual audit complete with callouts, pain points, and breakdowns. It also contains prototypes, both in low and high fidelity formats. Branding and color schemes were matched where possible.
